This laboratory studies the interaction of chemical stimuli with trigeminal ganglion neurons and taste both in culture and in awake behaving animals. The goal is to obtain an understanding of the peripheral and central events underlying gustation. Another focus of this laboratory is to obtain a molecular understanding of the interactions of peptides- and lipid bilayers.
